THE PRESBYTERIAN CHOIR SCHOOL OF NEW CANAAN
Spiritual development through the performing arts
CHERUB CHOIR (Two Sections) Pre-K-Grade 2
Sundays 11:15 – 11:45 AM, Wednesdays 4:30 – 5:15 PM
Discovering the singing voice and exploring music basics such as pitch and rhythm with movement are fun in the Cherub Choir, as children learn simple anthems and songs for worship, and join in Children’s Musical Theatre productions. Melody bells and other percussion instruments enhance the learning experience.
ANGELUS CHIME CHOIR (Grades 3–7)
Wednesdays 4:30 – 5:00 PM
Choirchimes are easy to play, and help develop rhythm and music reading skills. Choir chimes are similar to handbells, yet these instruments are virtually unbreakable! The ensemble also utilizes boomwhackers and other fun percussion instruments.
CAROL CHOIR (Grades 3–7)
Wednesdays 5:00 – 5:55 PM
This primary children’s choir provides music for services and a fully-staged, costumed Children’s Musical Theatre production each spring, as well as providing core support for our Christmas Pageant each Christmas Eve. Rehearsals combine the preparation of service anthems with music reading and dramatic skills. Come see for yourself why our young singers LOVE this choir!
CHRYSALIS YOUTH CHOIR (Grades 7–12)
Wednesdays 6:00 – 6:30 PM
Chrysalis is a flexible musical ensemble for youth that provides a wide variety of performing options in instrumental and vocal ensemble music. Musical styles throughout the year range from classical motets to contemporary gospel arrangements. This group is featured at our Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion and Youth Sunday services. Opportunities are plentiful for talented instrumental and vocal soloists to share their music in worship services.
